It's taken me years to do it, but I now believe I've compiled what may well be the single best collection of healthy (and not-so-healthy) lemonade recipes on earth.
I don’t know about you, but when spring hits CasaDay, the suburban house where I live and work from my home office, my salivary glands start mumbling sweet things about lemonade.
Well, way back when the summer of 2000 started, I decided to start sharing the best of the lemonade recipes I'd collected over the years so others could enjoy the delicious lemonades my family and I enjoy here in western North Carolina.
I revised and improved this collection for several years after the initial version.
I'm not going to write a long sales letter for this collection of the best lemonade recipes around, though I will say a few words about the 33 classic concoctions that you'll find in this collection...
Beet Lemonade -- Sounds too healthy to be good, doesn't it? Well, you're in for a big surprise. This stuff tastes great. Best Ever Lemonade -- Well, at least that's what the contributor of this recipe thinks. Blueberry Lemonade -- Oh, talk about a tasty combination. Once you know the two secrets found with this recipe for preparing the blueberries, you'll be in lemonade heaven.
Borage Lemonade -- You probably don't even know what borage is, but you'll have a keen appreciation for it after you have your first glass of this tasty lemonade. Butterhead Lemonade -- Lettuce in lemonade? Well, I'm not pulling your leg on this one. This stuff is tasty and healthy! Citrusade -- Lemons and oranges and a hint of lime make this recipe a fantastic combination. Cucumber Lemonade -- This one will be a big hit with you salad lovers, and it's especially good on really hot summer days when the minerals in cucumbers are a welcome relief to a sizzling bloodstream. Fizzy Cranberry-Lemonade -- Cranberries and a carbonated addition are the keys to this interesting lemonade. Flaxseed Lemonade -- Constipated? Then try flaxseed lemonade for a natural laxative that also tastes good. Fresh Lemonade -- Kind of a lame name for this lemonade, but this recipe is a traditional one that the kids will love. Front Porch Lemonade -- You don't even have to have a front porch to enjoy this recipe. Get Rich Quick Lemonade (The $8,000 Recipe!) -- According to the woman who submitted this recipe, "Chet, I have a mobile gourmet coffee stand that I run in the summers, and a friend suggested I also sell fresh squeezed lemonade to help sales on really hot days. I now give him free drinks for life, as I made $8000 the first weekend I added this lemonade to my menu."
Ginger Lemonade -- Like garlic, ginger has many wonderful health properties. With the recipe, you not only enjoy lemonade but you also improve health. Whoa! Ginger Limeade -- How about a limeade recipe for something a little different. Toss in the suggested amount of ginger and you have a tasty drink that's a lot different. Greenbrier Tropical -- This recipe has been served for years to thirsty vacationers at a bed and breakfast lodge in Tennessee. Homemade Peach Lemonade -- Oh, mercy, this recipe may well be one they use up in heaven. Talk about good! Iced Tea Lemonade -- I don't like iced tea, but I know most people do. Pam's Healthy Lemonade -- If you don't want sugar in your diet, then Pam's recipe will become a mainstay in your house this lemonade season. Pineapple Mint Lemonade -- Yep, it tastes as good as it sounds. Purist's Lemonade -- This recipe comes from the Keep It Simple, Stupid school of healthy drink recipes. Sicilian Lemonade -- If you don't like this one, we'll send a guy over who'll break your knees. Just kidding. Tony Soprano should serve this one at the BadaBing. Vanilla Lemonade -- My eldest son thinks this is the best lemonade recipe on earth, and when he mixes up a batch and brings me a cold glass full, I have trouble arguing the point with him.
