Shower Water Filters:
What
Your Family Gains from Shower Water Filters
by

In
the movie Freejack, Mick Jagger states, "If he drinks one drop of
that water, he's no use to me." He's speaking about Emilio Estevez after
he plunged off a bridge into a hyper polluted river in the future. What Mick Jagger
didn't know was Emilio would have been dead anyway, if the water was that dangerously
polluted. This is because the skin is capable of absorbing pollutants in water.
If
your shower doesn't have a filter adapter, then your body is absorbing everything
that comes out of the showerhead. These undesirable particles could be anything
from relatively harmless sediment to chlorine to heavy metals.
Shower
water filters are generally affordable and easy to install. You simply unscrew
or remove your original showerhead and screw on the new shower water filter. Bulkier
than faucet water filters, they usually contain more filtering material (floss,
high micron polyester fiber, activated carbon and resin) and often employ several
adjustments to change the spray of outgoing water.
You'll
immediately feel and even smell a difference as your skin "tastes" the
water hitting your body. The floss and fibers act as the first stage of filtration,
filtering out dust particles and other sediments. Carbon serves as chemical filtration
and pulls away chlorine, benzene, pesticide, herbicide, radon, and some forms
of activated carbon remove a few heavy metals.
Everyone
in your family will love a shower water filter. Your family's skin will thank
you, and everyone will have a much more positive shower experience.
Shower
water filters function even better when you install a whole house filter. A whole
house filter begins where the water line enters your house. When coupled with
a shower filter, the whole house filter acts as major pre-filtration, getting
out the vast majority of bad elements. The little that remain are filtered out
by your shower filter system.
