Treadmill Ratings:

Understanding Treadmill Ratings before You Buy

Don't make the big mistake that many buyers make - check out treadmill ratings before you buy. This will help you do two things. First, you can find out about discount deals through the advertisements on the ratings pages. Also, you can pick up tips about the different treadmills that are available, to help you decide which one is for you.

It is a very good idea to do some research before you buy anything online, but especially a larger purchase like a treadmill or other exercise equipment. Even if you plan to order from a store in your neighborhood, you can research the different treadmills online first.

Armed with information from the internet you may be able to get a better price from your local store or ask them to order a model that they do not normally stock, to meet your requirements.

Treadmill ratings will usually concern the different brands and models of treadmills and their features. Sometimes the user ratings will point up a feature that you had not thought about but would value in your treadmill.

Features such as the size of the running platform, information on fitness programs, heart rate monitors, impact absorption, range of speeds, foldaway design and so on are more important for some people than others. Other ratings may include safety statistics and technical information about the equipment.

When you are reading ratings of treadmills you need to consider who wrote the rating. There are generally three types of rating. One is from consumers, ordinary people who bought the treadmill and will write what they thought about it. Another is a rating written by a salesperson who is trying to sell a treadmill. A third type of rating is found on review sites where many different treadmills will be compared by an expert who has tested them all.

Consumer ratings may be very useful to you, but often there are not many of them on a particular model of treadmill and it is important not to give too much weight to just one buyer who is reviewing the equipment that he bought. Keep in mind that no treadmill has a hundred percent record of customer satisfaction.

A person may be more likely to come online and write a negative review of a treadmill than a positive one, when perhaps there was nothing wrong with the item that he bought but he just did not like to exercise and found that he did not use it. So one bad review does not mean that the product is bad.

Ratings written by salespeople of course will be biased because they are trying to sell to you. However, they can still be useful. Often times they will at least compare the different models that they have available and indicate which is best for which situation.

If you are looking at ratings on a site that promotes several different brands you can get a clear idea of which would suit you best. The salesperson will be aiming for customer satisfaction and if you have questions about the products, you can expect a clear and honest reply.

Independent expert ratings are thought by many people to be the most useful, but they are harder to find and sometimes can be simply too technical for many people. They may contain lists of features without explaining the purpose of each one, or compare products that seem so similar, it is hard to make a decision.

Usually they will have one or two recommended buys and then you have to order from elsewhere. As the expert ratings site does not sell treadmills directly, they will not be accountable if you buy on their recommendation and then find you have made a bad decision. This is also true of consumer treadmill ratings, of course.

Competition is intense in the exercise equipment industry and you should be able to use this to your advantage with a little online research. Use treadmill ratings to help you make your purchase decision and get tips on discounts available.
