I
just finished reading the article on the Weigh
Down workshop. I must say it's the first time I've ever seen anyone challenge
it!
I
just went thru the 12 week Weigh Down program, and I will be leading a
group this fall.
I
DO, however, think you made some very good points and appreciate the wisdom. As
I was going through the Weigh Down program, it occurred to me a few times
that it seemed awfully daring to eat salt and chocolate the way she refers to
it sometimes!
I
truly think, though, that most people who have been dieting for years and following
all the "rules" maybe need that freedom for awhile and then to see for
themselves that being able to eat "anything" will last for only so long
and then their body will be sick of it and crave the things that are better.
You
know what I mean, sort of get it out of their system?
In
my own journey through this program, I have come to know Jesus in a way that I
never have even though I've been a follower of His for almost 16 years. And for
that I am truly grateful.
I still
like this program and will still be a part of it, but I plan to add some things
in the next session so that people will realize that this 'freedom' we have doesn't
give us a license to be reckless!
Thank
you for your input, it has helped me a great deal. I appreciate the comments about
exercise too. I have always enjoyed exercising, and I found that I've gotten away
from it in this program without even meaning to.
I
think some of the things she shares in this program were maybe meant for her and
not everyone. It does talk about God dealing with each one individually and that
not everyone will eat the same things or at the same times, etc. So maybe that
needs to be stressed in the next session also.
Just
because Gwen can eat french fries loaded with salt, that may not be for EVERYONE!
Again,
thank you for your honest opinion and for not just bashing the whole thing.
God
bless you,
Bobbie
